My journey
My shaved ice journey began in 2018 when I was just 20 years old, working as a receptionist at a hair salon and living paycheck to paycheck. Like many, I dreamed of escaping the 9-5 grind and building something of my own—a business that gave me freedom and flexibility. The reality? I had no idea what I was getting into! I envisioned my shaved ice business taking off immediately, thinking it would be fun and relatively simple. But that excitement quickly faded as I faced more “no’s” and setbacks than I had anticipated. It wasn’t the overnight success I had imagined. However, I’m not one to quit. My determination wouldn’t let me walk away after just one year. I knew winter was my chance to regroup and strategize for the next summer. As fate would have it, I lived in the same city as one of Snowie’s distribution centers. I got a job working at their office, which gave me firsthand experience with the equipment, the industry, and an up-close look at what it takes to run a successful shaved ice business. That opportunity ignited a passion within me that I don’t think I would have found without the extra push and incredible mentors around me. That’s when everything changed. I started working alongside Lyle Rupp at Snowie Cincinnati—a man with over 20 years of shaved ice expertise and 40 years of business wisdom. His mentorship became the turning point in my journey. Over the next six years, his guidance helped me not only grow my business but also develop the skills and confidence to help others achieve success.
